“There is nothing in this world that can trouble you as much as your own thoughts’’.
There may come a time when you find yourself in crisis or emotional distress. In this situation, you might feel out of control and might not feel to do anything.
Over thinking is what results. Over thinking doesn't sound so bad on the surface---Thinking is good, right?
But over thinking can cause problems.
When you over think, your judgments get cloudy. You spend too much time in the negative. It can become difficult to act.
Don't think of what can go wrong, but what can go right.
In many cases, over thinking is caused by, when you focus on all the negative things that might happen.
Next time you sense that you starting to spiral in that direction ---Stop. Visualize all the things that can go right and keep those thoughts present and up front.
When you overthink, the irrational thought process can continue for long and then you can’t get out of your own head.
So,
How do you stop yourself From Overthinking?
1. Awareness is the beginning, therefore notice when you are stuck in your head. Overthinking can become such a habit that you don’t even recognize when you start doing it.
2. Put things into perspective
3. Stop waiting for perfection in everything
4. Keep the focus on Problem solving
5. Challenge your thoughts
6. Learn mindfulness skills
Sometimes it's helpful to have a way to distract yourself with happy, positive, healthy alternatives. The best thing you can do is to breathe deeply and have faith that everything will work out for the best.
