The New Year is a time to start fresh, make resolutions, and set goals and ambitions for the year ahead. The New Year is also a time for practicing self care. Particularly if you want to succeed in making positive changes in your life.
Every time before the New Year begins, You start with energy and optimism about the changes you are going to make in your life to create a new-and-improved you, but slowly it gets hard with each passing day. Now you think and it goes like either you modify your goal or resolution or you completely stop following it.
This is the time when particularly self-compassion, or in other words, being kind to yourself is important.
BUT,
What is Self Care?
Self Care is the practice to improve, protect and preserve one's own wellbeing.
Self awareness is self care, self love is self care, treating yourself kindly is self care, knowing your worth and protecting that worth is self care.
It is more than just Face mask and pampering yourself which do good but, For long term benefits self care is to gain insight into yourself and understand your emotions , your thoughts and your actions.
Practicing self-care will build your self-esteem, confidence and resilience.
Me-time is usually last on the agenda for most people. It’s so important to make sure you take good care of your body, mind, and soul, not just when you get sick but everyday.
So, How to start practicing Self Care?
1. Creating a self-care routine can really help you create time for yourself. Do what works for you. A morning and a nighttime self-care routine can be planned according to what best suits you.
2. Make sleep a part of your self-care routine: It is important to take rest and de-stress yourself. Sleep can have a huge effect on how you feel both emotionally and physically. Not getting enough sleep can even cause major health issues. Set a night routine. Stop using gadgets half hour before you hit the bed.
3. Learn to say No: Know that your self-care is very important, and how and when to say no to things that may disrupt it. You don't have to carry other people's baggage every time.
4. Spend time doing activities that make you happy: If you like painting do that, if you like traveling do that, if you like reading start it today.
5. Practice Self-Compassion: When you practice self-compassion, you apply the same understanding and kindness that you have for other people in the world to yourself. It’s self-compassion rather than self-criticism that keeps you moving forward.
6. Workout: Whatever physical activity you like make sure you include it in your self-care, Just Exercise.
7. Organize your space: A disorganized space will disrupt your self-care plan. Take out time to clean and organize your space.
8. Journal: A gratitude journal to pen down what you are grateful for.
Daily self-care will help you to reduce the risk of burnout. It helps you to check-in with yourself. To listen to what you need.
So In 2022, Make your self-care a priority.
